About Bert

My dog Bert is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi dog that came to live with us in 2003 from a kennel in Painsville, OH. His birthday is Jan. 25, 2003. Bert was the biggest puppy in his litter and a holy terror. We previously had two other Corgis, Otis and Chauncy, and they were much more calm and relaxed in nature.

Bert has struggled with his aggression, especially food aggression, and is finally turning into a great dog. We’ve taken him through several obedience courses and work with him constantly to keep him in line. He is a huge Corgi, not overweight, just big at 53 lbs. He is an attention hound and constantly needs reassurance that he is a good guy. His vocabulary is limited, but he talks to us constantly and his head ticks back and forth with every word he knows… like eat, walk, ride, treat, biscuit, etc. :0)

Bert needs lots of exercise and activity to keep him from getting overweight, as he is a bit of a couch potato. His sisters Maisy (ShiPoo) and Jazzy (deaf JRT) keep him on his toes constantly, as he has not a clue what they will do to him next. His aggression doesn’t work with them, as they work as a team to keep him from becoming the leader of the pack and alpha dog. That’s probably a good thing. :0)
